Evangelos Pournaras

Dr. Evangelos Pournaras is a senior scientist in the Professorship of Computational Social Science, at ETH Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland. He was earlier at Delft University of Technology and VU University Amsterdam in the Netherlands, where he completed his PhD studies in 2013 with the thesis “Multi-level Reconfigurable Self-organization in Overlay Services”. Since 2007, he holds a MSc with distinction in Internet Computing from University of Surrey, UK and since 2006 a BSc on Technology Education and Digital Systems from University of Piraeus, Greece. Evangelos has also been a visiting researcher at EPFL in Switzerland and has industry experience at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center in the USA. He serves the editorial board and the program committees of several international conferences and journals. He has several publications in high-impact journals and conferences in the area of distributed systems, including a best journal paper award. Smart Grids and social sensing/mining are some application domains of his expertise. Evangelos is currently working on the Nervousnet project focusing on fully decentralized and privacy-preserving services for social sensing and mining.

Jovan
Nikolic
Research & Development
Jovan Nikolic is currently a MSc student in Computer Science at ETH Zurich, and is also employed as student assistant at the Professorship of Computational Social Science at ETH Zurich. Previously, he was for one year an intern at the same department, after receiving a BSc degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from University of Belgrade, Serbia. During his bachelor studies, Jovan worked as undergraduate teaching assistant on various courses. He received prestigious Serbian “Dositeja” scholarship 2 years in a row. Currently, Jovan is working on the DIAS development and implements core system functionalities. Besides distributed systems, he is also interested in machine learning and data mining.

Nursultan Jubatyrov
Research & Development
Nursultan Jubatyrov is a B.S student at Nazarbayev University, Astana, Kazakshtan studying Computer Science. He is doing his one year long internship as a research assistant student at ETH Zurich.

Srivatsan Yadhunathan
Research & Development
Srivatsan Yadhunathan is a student in the M.Sc Statistics programme of ETH Zurich. His interests include Data Analytics, Machine Learning and Decentralized Optimization. He previously worked as a technical data analyst for Goldman Sachs for 2.5 years.

Varin Buff
Research & Development
Varin Buff is a Bsc. Student at the department of mechanical engineering, and is also employed as student assistant at the Professorship of Computational Social Science at ETH Zurich. He is developing modular data aquisition and monitoring software for android. He is also interested in Control Systems and hardware near programming.
